Unix commands are described in pre-formatted text. Each command is given with the prompt first (using # for root, % for non-root users), and in some cases an example of what should be seen is given on subsequent lines. For example, to input the command:
% ls casinstall.html conventions.html directorydef.html eduperson.html index.html ssodef.html
You should type "ls" followed by RETURN and then expect to see the output which follows on the next line. Special keys such as RETURN and ESCAPE are denoted in command lines with square brackets: [RETURN] and [ESCAPE].
Where a file needs to be edited, instructions are given to open it in the vi editor. Other editors can of course be used, or the files can be copied elsewhere to be edited if you are unfamiliar with Unix editors.
