Abstract:
The following announcement was made by Eric Van de Velde on behalf of the NISO Committee AX:
"Today, we are releasing for public comment the first document of the proposed Standard. It is titled "The OpenURL Framework for Context-Sensitive Services, Part 1: Context Object and Transport Mechanisms". This document defines the general framework to bundle specific packages of contextual metadata and transport them over the network.
The public-comment period starts on March 12th and will last at least until April 15th. The Standard will be released for trial use sometime after April 15th. We hope to start trial use as soon as possible. However, the precise date depends on your comments, on the Committee's response to your comments, and on progress in developing the necessary infrastructure."
